IS YOUR ROADMARKING CONTRACTOR DOING IT RIGHT ?
IS YOUR ROADMARKING CONTRACTOR DOING IT RIGHT - OR DOING YOU IN? Personal attendance-based with theoretical and practical elements.
Description
Roadpainters come in various types, sizes and ethics.
The process of doing a quality job, on time and within budget has many challenges and constraints. It is a well-known fact that visually, the motoring public seem most aware of the markings, the signage and the evenness of the road surface. They are mostly unaware of the design effort, the below - surface preparations and drainage amongst the host of other challenges that encompass a quality project.
Project management and Engineering teams have the sometimes difficult challenge of getting a fair job done at a fair price. The oft - hidden pitfalls and shortcomings of contractors working on your site and doing the ‘right’ thing are a constant problem.
Sometimes site conditions, the client’s specifications and materials used on the final surface can have a significant impact on the finished product.
Roadmarkings, by their very nature and description, are obvious to the eye of the motorist, client and engineering team.
As our country struggles to find the balance of introducing new skills and development challenges, the standards of service provided by contractors can be extremely questionable. Add to this the temptations to short or under - supply in order to gain economic benefits (like staff selling paint that has been leached out of a project) due to the prevailing economic conditions is a constant concern.
A picture of short - term gain by unscrupulous people can damage the quality of the completed project. YOUR PROJECT.
The course presenter : Andy Keil
Andy started his own roadmarking company in 1981, having spent 6 years as an officer in the SAAF. Starting with only one staff member, he developed the business successfully and in the process, created training programs for his staff that grew to over 90 employees. His technical knowledge and practical experience allowed him to create and develop his own designed equipment that allowed the company to take on huge projects with specialised requirements, like painting all the original markings on the airport runways at St Helena island, Lanseria and O.R. Thambo, as well as SANRAL highways, municipal roadways, container depots, race tracks and multi-level parkades.
He’s been through all the rigours of diesel theft, paint theft, moonlighting staff, staff substance abuses, equipment tampering and the other 101 things that can go on at a site.
The chance to understand and apply the techniques learned in over 40 years of contracting in an informative and topical manner is not to be missed.
Who is this Training Course for?
We offer two different courses, both using similar content, but pitched at two different levels:-
The Introductory Level session is pitched at younger or less experienced staff who need to become acquainted with the potential pitfalls of working with Roadmarking contractors or staff.
The Advanced Level is for more senior or experienced Engineers that have to make the decisions, set the standards and make the tough calls.
Each session is approximately 90 minutes and allows for a Q & A at the end.
Presented by an industry expert with over 40 years experience at your facility lecture hall, the nature of the content does not favour an on-line training concept.
The courses are available nationwide and can accommodate as many delegates at each venue that seating is available for.
