AFRICA TRADE AND LOGISTICS CONFERENCE

The Africa Trade and Logistics Conference (ATLC) is a premier annual gathering of stakeholders at the forefront of promoting intra-African trade, logistics and supply chain, designed to address the most critical opportunities and challenges at the heart of Africa's economic transformation.

Description

As the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) moves from agreement to implementation, the continent stands on the precipice of a historic shift — integrating a market of 1.3 billion people with a combined GDP potential of over $3.4 trillion.

The core rationale of this is simple: the AfCFTA is by far the largest free trade area in the whole world, and unlocking a three trillion-dollar market is surely a one-way gateway to solving several of the continent’s economic challenges.

With this in mind, the rationale behind the Africa Trade and Logistics Conference was premised on the clear and urgent presumption that Africa's immense trade potential is currently constrained by its logistics and supply chain bottlenecks.

While AfCFTA provides the regulatory framework for free trade, the physical, digital, and financial infrastructure required to move goods efficiently is not yet fully realised.

Course Objectives

  • For Government Officials & Policymakers: Network and collaborate, showcase opportunities, and learn best practices.
  • For Shippers, Importers & Exporters: Get insights on reducing costs and delays, gain market intelligence, learn to mitigate risk.
  • For Logistics Service Providers (LSPs), Ports & Rail Operators: Identify growth avenues, form strategic partnerships, stay ahead of technology trends.
  • For Investors and Financiers: Deal sourcing, understand the risk-reward profile, explore new financial models.
  • For Technology and Innovation Companies: Showcase your solutions, understand market needs, partner for scale.

The Course Content

  • High Logistics Costs: Logistics costs in Africa can be up to three times higher than in developed markets, eroding competitiveness.
  • Infrastructure Gaps: Inadequate road and rail networks, port congestion, and limited cold chain facilities hamper seamless movement.
  • Regulatory Inefficiencies: Cumbersome customs procedures, non-tariff barriers, and bureaucratic red tape slow down cross-border trade.
  • Financing Gaps: Limited access to trade finance and investment in logistics infrastructure stifles growth for SMEs and large corporations alike.
  • Digital Disconnect: A lack of digital integration and data visibility across supply chains creates opacity and inefficiency.

The ATLC will be the ultimate platform where these challenges are not just discussed, but where actionable solutions are forged. It brings together the entire ecosystem — from policymakers and regulators to shippers, logistics providers, financiers, and technology innovators — to collaborate, form partnerships, and drive the tangible progress needed to unlock Africa's trade potential.

Topics to be discussed include

The conference agenda is structured around five critical pillars, each containing focused sessions and panel discussions.

  • The AfCFTA in action: from policy to practice
  • Revolutionising Supply Chain & Logistics infrastructure
  • Digital transformation in trade and logistics
  • Sustainable and inclusive trade logistics
  • Financing the future of African trade

The Africa Trade and Logistics Conference will be more than just a talking shop; it is the nerve center for the practical work of building the arteries of African commerce. In an era defined by supply chain reconfiguration, Africa offers the world's next great growth story, and attending the event will be an investment in understanding, connecting, and positioning yourself at the forefront of this transformative journey.

It is where the blueprint for a connected, efficient, and prosperous Africa is being drawn, and your presence is essential to help build it.
